1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Mirai Osmo Pte. Ltd. (UEN: 202600081D) (“we”, “us” or “our”), the operator of Mirai Osmo, collects, uses, discloses and protects personal data in connection with the Mirai Osmo website at http://www.miraiosmo.com, our newsletter and our related communications (collectively, the “Site”).

We are committed to protecting personal data in accordance with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (“PDPA”). Where data protection laws in other markets apply to us, we will also comply with those laws.

By using the Site or submitting personal data to us, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal data as described in this Policy. “Personal data” means data, whether true or not, about an individual who can be identified from that data or from that data together with other information to which we have or are likely to have access.

2. Personal Data We Collect

2.1 Data you provide to us

  • Newsletter subscription: your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your name.
  • Enquiries and feedback: your name, email address and the contents of your message when you contact us by email or through a contact form, including editorial corrections, privacy requests and general enquiries.

2.2 Data collected automatically

When you visit the Site, certain data is collected automatically by us or by service providers acting on our behalf, including: your IP address; the date and time of your visit; the pages you view and the links you click; the referring website; and information about your device and browser (such as device type, operating system and browser version). This data is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described in Section 5.

2.3 Data we do not collect

The Site does not require user accounts and we do not ask you to provide health, medical or other sensitive personal information. Our content is informational only. Please do not send us personal health information about yourself or others, for example in an email or contact form. If you do include such information, we will use it only to respond to your enquiry and will delete it when no longer needed.

3. How We Use Personal Data

We collect, use and disclose personal data for the following purposes:

  • to send you our newsletter and related communications you have subscribed to;
  • to respond to your enquiries, feedback, correction requests and complaints;
  • to operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site, including understanding how readers use our content;
  • to perform analytics and measure Site performance on an aggregated basis;
  • to comply with applicable laws, regulations and requests from regulators or authorities; and
  • to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, and any other purpose reasonably related to the above.

If we need to use your personal data for any other purpose, we will notify you and, where required, obtain your consent beforehand.

4. Consent and Withdrawal of Consent

Where consent is the basis for our processing, you may withdraw your consent at any time. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any newsletter email or by emailing us. Depending on the nature of the withdrawal, we may no longer be able to provide certain services to you (for example, we cannot send you the newsletter if you withdraw consent to receive it). We will inform you of any consequences of withdrawal before acting on your request. We may also collect, use or disclose personal data without consent where permitted or required under the PDPA or other applicable laws.

5. Cookies and Web Analytics

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies, such as pixels and local storage, to operate the Site, remember your preferences and understand how the Site is used. We use web analytics services, including Google Analytics, to collect and analyse aggregated information about how the Site is used on our behalf.

You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings, and where an analytics provider offers an opt-out tool, we will reference it on the Site. If you disable cookies, some parts of the Site may not function fully. Where required by applicable law, we will seek your consent to the use of non-essential cookies through a notice or banner on the Site.

6. Disclosure of Personal Data

We do not sell personal data. We may disclose personal data to:

  • service providers who process data on our behalf, such as website hosting, email newsletter delivery, web analytics, and marketing content and services providers under appropriate contractual safeguards;
  • professional advisers, such as lawyers and auditors, where reasonably necessary;
  • government authorities, regulators or law enforcement where required or permitted by applicable law; and
  • a prospective or actual acquirer, and its advisers, in connection with a business or asset transaction such as a merger, acquisition or reorganisation.

7. International Transfers

Our service providers may store or process personal data outside Singapore. Where we transfer personal data out of Singapore, we will take steps to ensure the receiving organisation provides a standard of protection comparable to that required under the PDPA, and that any transfer complies with other applicable data protection laws.

8. Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required for business, legal, regulatory or compliance purposes. As a general guide, newsletter data is retained while your subscription is active and removed within a reasonable period after you unsubscribe, and enquiry correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle the matter and meet our record-keeping obligations. We will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymise personal data that is no longer needed.

9. Security

We make reasonable security arrangements to protect personal data in our possession or under our control against unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or similar risks. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Data Breach Notification

If a data breach occurs that is notifiable under the PDPA, we will notify the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) within the timeframes required by law and will notify affected individuals where the breach is likely to result in significant harm to them. We will also comply with breach notification requirements under other applicable laws.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not intended for or directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone we know to be under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us at privacy@miraiosmo.com and we will take steps to delete it.

12. Third-Party Websites

The Site contains links to third-party websites, including the sources we cite in our content. This Policy does not apply to those websites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy notices of any website you visit.

13. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access: request access to the personal data we hold about you and information about how it has been used or disclosed within the past year;
  • Correction: request correction of an error or omission in your personal data;
  • Withdrawal of consent: withdraw any consent you have given, as described in Section 4; and
  • Complaint: raise a concern with us, and, if you are not satisfied with our response, lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Commission (Singapore) or the data protection authority in your jurisdiction.

If you are located outside Singapore, you may have additional or different rights under the data protection law that applies to you (for example, rights to deletion or data portability in some jurisdictions). We will honour applicable rights in accordance with the law that applies to you.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us as described in Section 16. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with the timelines required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

14. Marketing Communications

We will only send you marketing or promotional messages, including our newsletter, where you have subscribed or otherwise consented. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. We comply with Singapore’s spam control requirements and applicable equivalents in other markets.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies or legal requirements. The updated version will be posted on the Site with a revised “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
